Italian Style Homemade Pizza

After preparing your homemade pizza dough and tomato sauce, you’re ready for the best part - making and grilling your pizza. Follow the steps below to shape the dough, add the sauce and toppings, and cook it on the grill until perfectly crisp and bubbling.

Ingredients

Makes 3 pizzas
350 g flour
200 ml hot water
25 g fresh yeast or 7 g instant yeast
Pinch of sugar
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt

250 ml tomato passata
½ can peeled tomatoes
1 clove garlic
½ onion
Salt, pepper, sugar to taste
Fresh or dried basil and oregano
1 tbsp olive oil
Optional: chilies or jalapenos for spice

Instructions

Remove dough from the fridge 30 minutes before baking. Prepare sauce and toppings.

Heat your pizza stone on the grill to 300 °C.

Flour your work surface and shape dough into “shovel-sized” bases by hand - avoid rolling pins to preserve air bubbles.

Place dough on a floured pizza peel, spread sauce, cheese, and toppings.

Slide pizza onto the heated stone, close lid, and bake ~5 minutes. Look for browned edges, melted cheese, and bubbling crust.

For multiple pizzas, adjust burner heat to avoid burning the bottoms.
