Juicy double smash burgers stacked with melted cheese, sweet caramelised onions, and a creamy garlic mayo - all served in soft toasted brioche buns. Perfect for BBQs, grill nights, or an easy homemade burger recipe.

Ingredients

For the Burgers
2 brioche buns
Vegetable oil, for cooking
500 g minced beef
Salt & black pepper, to taste
8 slices cheese


For the Caramelised Onions
3 medium onions, sliced into half rings
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper


Garlic Mayo Sauce
4 tbsp mayonnaise
½ tsp garlic powder
Pinch of black pepper

Instructions

Make the Garlic Mayo

In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise with garlic powder and black pepper. Set aside.

Caramelise the Onions

Heat a little oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add sliced onions and cook until softened.
Stir in sugar, salt, and pepper, then cook for 10–15 minutes until golden, soft, and caramelised.

Toast the Brioche Buns

Lightly oil and toast the brioche buns on the grill or in a pan until golden and slightly crisp.

Prepare the Smash Burger Patties

Divide the minced beef into 4 equal balls.
Place onto a hot plancha or frying pan and smash flat using a smash burger press.

Cook for 2–3 minutes until crispy
Flip, season with salt and pepper
Add cheese slices and cook until melted

Stack two patties per burger for a juicy double smash burger.

Assemble the Burgers in Layers:

Bottom brioche bun
Double cheese smash patties
Caramelised onions
Garlic mayo
Top brioche bun
